Same as all the companies out there, cutting cost. They exchanged a RFB for a 5 month old console with us. It was still under store warranty so we should have taken it back. We opted for sony instead, thinking we would get better service. They gave us a crappy refurb. To me that’s bordering on criminal but they refused to offer anything else. If it had been beneficial getting a solicitor / trading standards involved, I would have. That refurb was then replaced again because when it arrived it was making strange noises & was scratched lol

Further to this I was banned from the ps network for a week for arguing with someone online. Their report was processed just as we were about to purchase software. Bit of a joke really. I complaned to sony that it was unfair practice & biased – as well as very bad business sense. They fobbed me off with some condescending lecture about their responsibilities. All these companies are the same, patronising, playing god and thinking their above consumer law. If you shout at one of their indian call center assistants, will it make any difference?

No, but it will make you feel better.

well, you dont have a warranty, they are giving you a ps3 for $128, now thats a ripp off for them. My PS3 broke in 2008 May, and I took it to best buy because I have a warranty with them. they said to send it to sony, so I was pissed. I called them, this guy picked up, went through everything, he told me all the ways i could fix it, and it didnt work, he took my address and name, and next thing you know, in 3 days I have a box shipped to my house so I can send my ps3 in. then I sent it in, and after 6 days, it came back. It was all fixed and everything. I think thats awesome service. so it took 9 days which isnt so bad because when my ps3 broke and i gave it to best buy, it took 2 weeks for them to fix it, and then it came back, and then guess what? it wasnt fixed, they didnt even touch it, so I sent it in again, then it came back after 2 weeks, and it was finally fixed. way worst then what sony did.
