The PS3 isn’t having a lot of problems, that’s Xbox fanboy talk… Yeah the PS3 is having a lot of problems, that’s why when all 3 systems were first out on the market together both Wii and PS3 had less then a 1% failure rate, while 360 had a 33% failure rate, and that is an estimate straight out of Microsoft’s mouth, so the failure rate is probably even higher because companies always downplay things… Why don’t you stop spewing bullshit out of your mouth and being a fanboy.

And after all the REAL problems 360 has had, you can bet your ass many people are going to rethink going Xbox next gen…

BTW, stop listening to rumors when it comes to gaming… About 99% of the time it leads to disappointment becuase most have no basis in truth to begin with, they are just rumors.

When first released PS3’s only downfall was the price, but it came with built in wireless, which would cost you another 100 on an Xbox, and free online play, which if you figure the average lifespan of consoles so far is 6 years, adds another 300 bucks to Xbox to be able to play online. Not to mention a Blu-Ray player… Hmm, which one seems to be a better deal? 800+the cost of a Bluray player for 360, or 600 for a PS3…. Even if you don’t care about the bluray player and don’t count that, 360 still cost more on release.

Oh, and don’t use that stupid excuse of ‘360 has more games’ 360 was also out a year earlier, it’s not like 360 started with anymore games on release then PS3 did.

i know that microsoft said that the next system whould probly beo ut in around 2012. thay they needed to see what kind of hardware and graphics systems would be out in 2010-2012. The name XBOX 720 is pure rumor, microsoft has only mentioned it as a possible name.

And remember, if they do make it, we wont be able to use it long if the mayan/aztec calendar is right. that means we will all die on 12/23/12. lol

More like a prejudicial proclamation than a question. It would help if you were a little more unbiased in your inquiry. Don’t think they’ll be dishing out a new console anytime soon because the current consoles have only just begun catering to the gamers of the world. Xbox 720 would be a really awkward name though…As for PS4? Well, to be fair, Sony haven’t really changed the trend of their consoles names so there isn’t anything new or old there.

Although the life span of systems seem to keep getting shorter, I still can’t imagine anything being out that soon. Keep in mind the PS3 just under went a makeover and that it’s predecessor is still on the market for at least another year so don’t count on a PS4 for at least another four years. As far as the Xbox 360, I think it’s easily got four more years until they start R&D on its successor. The wii has plenty of time left and no it’s not mostly for kids. It is geared toward casual gamers, a population until recently that hasn’t been given a whole of attention.

I dont know why microsoft would release another xbox. They’re going to release the Natal next year. Microsoft also said they’re going to support the 360 all the way through 2015. Give the PS3 a chance. Remember that the 360 had a head start on it.

I would like to point out that the 360 is in no way “king” when you look at total sales. That title goes, hands down, to the Wii. The 360 doesn’t even come close to meeting the Wii’s market penetration. The 360 is the more popular console among hardcore gamers in the U.S. The PS3, however, is outselling it in Japan (one of the biggest markets in the world), and has been since it’s launch and, last I checked, in Europe as well (though the margin is much closer there).

And exactly what “problems” is the PS3 having? XD It’s biggest problem since launch has been it’s price, and now that that has dropped, US sales have picked up significantly. The handful of problems the PS3 does have, have not garnered anywhere near the attention of the 360’s issues (most notably the RRoD, which many people still think is a huge problem, even though it’s occurrence rate is now negligible, and more recently the E-74 error on newer models).

At any rate, there isn’t going to be a PS4 or a “720″ (which, I might add, MS has already said will not be the name of a future Xbox console, so I with people would just stop with that name) for several more years. Sony is shooting for a 10 year lifespan on the PS3… even if they fall short on that, we won’t even hit the average console lifespan until 2012, and Sony is, at the very least, going to go beyond the average.

As for MS, they’re shooting for a longer than average lifespan as well, though not as long as Sony’s. They’re going for 7 years rather than the usual 5.

If anyone releases a console before 2012, it will be Nintendo, as their consoles traditionally have shorter lifespans to begin with, and they have yet to enter the HD realm with their hardware.
